Matthew Whitley is a professional freelance photographer and independent filmmaker based in Northern California. He has a BA in photography from CSU, Sacramento as well as, a certificate of filmmaking from the New York Film Academy. He’s been working and studying as an artist for over 20 years, writing and directing several short films and music videos, has shot for newspapers like MGW and Outword Newsmagazine, portraits and weddings, or shooting film production stills on movie sets. His work has been exhibited in California, New York and Germany. Among his credits are the Leslie-Lohman Gallery in SoHo, NYC, the Knitting Factory, NYC, The New York Exposition of Short Film, the New York Gay and lesbian experimental film festival, California State fair, Juried Art show, Hamburg Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and Sacramento Film and Music Festival. He is currently freelancing as a photographer and has recently finished his first feature script, Doris Day Parking, and is currently in pre-production.
